Florida drivers are required to carry liability insurance for property damage they may cause in an accident, but not for injuries to people. Some drivers don’t carry any insurance at all. As such, many people purchase uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage on their own insurance policy.
Uninsured coverage protects them from drivers without insurance or in the case of a hit-and-run accident. Underinsured coverage helps compensate for another driver’s inability to pay damages.
